Cease Grease with a Piece of Fleece.

Submitted by TIS-News on Thu, 01/20/2011 - 11:10am

When it comes to choosing a wiping rag, it comes down to personal preference, perhaps even peace of mind. So, what's the deal with fleece?

Fleece, by the way, is a general term for "soft fabric."

Oil companies use corduroy or fleece for most of their grease work because they like the toughness and softness of these rags. Tiedemann Industrial Supply has white and colored fleece products made from reclaimed sweatshirt material.

And yes, they are soft to the touch.

The product, much more absorbent than white knit, is ideal for restoration companies, heating/air conditioning and general fabricators. We've had customers buy them for grease applications, as a general shop rag or for heavy duty cleanup.

With fleece maybe they're flying off to Nice, the fifth most populous city in France.

Did you know?

Merriam-Webster defines fleece as: "the coat of wool covering a wool-bearing animal (as a sheep); the wool obtained from a sheep at one shearing; any of various soft or woolly coverings; a soft, bulky deep-piled knitted or woven fabric used chiefly for clothing."

The word, first used before the 12th century, is derived from the Middle English word flees, from Old English flios; akin to Middle High German vlius fleece and perhaps to Latin pluma feather, down. Its synonyms include: coat, fur, hair, jacket, pelage, pile, and wool.

Call us with questions about fleece. We're here, or in Greece with our niece searching for peace.
